Holyoke receives $50K for creative placemaking project under I-391

Holyoke has been designated as one of 64 successful “Our Town” grant recipients by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) this year, one of only 9 in the Vacant Properties category. I-391 Infraspace Project

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Infra-Space program, which officially launched in July of 2014,  invites public-private redevelopment of under-utilized areas surrounding transportation infrastructure, such as elevated roads, bridges, and viaducts. Inspired by the ongoing redevelopment of the I-93 South East Expressway underpass in Boston with combined parking and public space, MassDOT has expanded the program to include additional properties in 7 cities across Massachusetts.

The ARTery

The ARTery seeks to empower creative enterprise by providing training, development resources, placemaking tools, and marketplace opportunities to the artists, innovators and creative entrepreneurs of Western Mass. Street Furniture Designed and Built by Local Artists Will Be Unveiled at Next Stop Holyoke

Call for Art: Images of Industry

The City of Holyoke seeks “images of industry” from regional artists to incorporate into a proposed series of banners. Vertical banners will be displayed on lamp posts along the streets of downtown Holyoke. Artwork should be original and reflect on the past and/or present industries of Western Massachusetts.
