(February) A series of winter cultural activities over two weeks that includes a Chili Cook-off, Baking Contests, Ice Hockey Tournament, Luminary at Community Field, and an annual Dog Show.
(March – the day before the Parade) An annual 10K road race through the streets of Holyoke that attracts thousands of runners and spectators.
(March) Starting in 1952, the Holyoke Saint Patrick’s Day parade draws over 400,000 people to the City every year. It is one of the largest Irish Heritage celebrations in the world. Along with the Mardi Gras, Mount Rushmore, Daytona 500,the Rose Parade and other national treasures, the Holyoke Saint Patrick’s Day Parade has been designated a Local Legacy by the Library of Congress.
(June) The Great Holyoke Brick Race involves constructing a race car from a brick that is cleverly mounted on wheels and raced down an inclined track on Race St. using only gravity for power (much like a pinewood derby). The brick race cars are judged by creativity and sculptural quality as well as being the fastest to cross the finish line.
(last weekend in August) Celebrate Holyoke is an annual free admission festival featuring live music, artists, food and alcohol vendors, family activities (including a 1000 foot slip’n’slide) and MORE!
(October – Columbus Day Weekend) A weekend of Holyoke art, sport, food, history, nature, music, and culture organized by PassportHoyoke and its partners. Next Stop: Holyoke encourages residents and visitors to explore the exciting revitalization of Holyoke’s arts and entertainment district. Guests will discover a host of enriching activities that include tours of historic buildings, an artist marketplace, live music, performances, a community picnic, crafts for kids, and much more like the Latin Jazz Festival & Block Party.
