An annual meeting of the Innovation District Task Force was held on October 17 at Gateway City Arts. Deemed as “the best example of cooperative project implementation happening in the state” by EOHED Secretary Greg Bialecki, the Task Force meeting featured an update on the progress of the Innovation-Based Economic Development Strategy for Holyoke and the Pioneer Valley, which was released one year ago in 2011. The strategy was developed to maximize the economic benefits of the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center for the City and the region. Click Here for the annual update.
The meeting featured several panels to discuss economic activity happening throughout the Innovation District and Center City Holyoke. One discussion featured Katherine Putnam, President of Package Machinery Company Inc, Bethany Daley of PoterHouse Media and Lori Devine-Hudson of Gateway City Arts and discussed why each panelist’s innovative business calls Holyoke home. Another panel moderated by Mayor Alex Morse featured discussion from Marcos Marrero, Director of Planning & Economic Development, John Goodhue, Director of the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center and Richard Henderson, Executive Vice President of Real Estate at MassDevelopment.
