UMASS COURSE DESCRIPTION: Music 150H The Lively Arts exists to engage students directly with artists and their work. Those in the Honors section of this course explore more deeply and personally artists and their processes, contextual circumstances of art creation and exploration of modes of our human perception. An experimental dimension in photography, music, dance and multi-cultural arts and various topics is also emphasized. Honors students plan and present team projects as part of a Civic Engagement and Service Learning (CESL) component to develop their in-class work and citizenship with current artists, entrepreneurs, creative business owners, etc. in a real life context; this requires about ten hours of additional preparation over the semester to complete. This section is intended for students who enjoy working in a less structured environment, are open-minded, and are willing to take a risk.
