As part of the local approval process, a Public Hearing will be held by the City Council Redevelopment Committee to consider the Holyoke Redevelopment Authority’s Urban Renewal Plan entitled, “Connect. Construct. Create.: A Plan for the Revitalization of Center City Holyoke”. The Hearing will take place on Monday, November 5th at 6:30 p.m., at the Holyoke Transportation Center, Room 402-403, 206 Maple Street. Simultaneous English to Spanish interpretation services will be provided.
Since the Plan’s release in early September, the Office of Planning & Economic Development and Holyoke Redevelopment Authority staff have held public informational sessions and other presentations of the plan to various community groups. A copy of the slide show presented at those sessions can be found here. These public presentations go above and beyond any requirements of the State and aim to educate stakeholders about the details of the plan prior to the formal Public Hearing.
A City Council Public Hearing is a requirement within the approval process of the State’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) for Urban Renewal Plans. Following the Public Hearing a vote by the full City Council must be taken of whether to approve the plan before being sent to DHCD for final approval.
The plan can be viewed at on the documents page of this site (HolyokeRedevelopment.com) as well as at the Office of Planning & Economic Development, Library and Mayor’s Office.Share
