Dean Technical High School to receive new science laboratories

In an effort to enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) curriculum in the City, Dean Technical High School looks to make upgrades to their science laboratories. The State School Building Authority has approved the reimbursement of approximately 80% of the project or $6.3 million. The next step is to seek local approval from the City Council to bond for the remaining funding of the project.

Innovation District Task Force annual meeting held

An annual meeting of the Innovation District Task Force was held on October 17 at Gateway City Arts. Deemed as “the best example of cooperative project implementation happening in the state” by EOHED Secretary Greg Bialecki, the Task Force meeting featured an update on the progress of the Innovation-Based Economic Development Strategy for Holyoke and the Pioneer Valley, which was released one year ago in 2011.
